Mater, Mineral, Minibeast is a series of collage studies
using the visual structure of gestural lattice to weave various natural material into a single plane, no hierarchy. 
Flora, fauna, silt, gems, mushrooms, nests, grass are both singled out then interlaced and enmeshed.

Grids are an orthometric human made phenomenon and recurring tool to make sense of complex systems. An example is the island of Manahatta which was drawn and quartered into sequential blocks in the 1811 Commissioners Plan. The logic of existing topography, watersheds and habitat erased and formed to the logic of a province. &#38;nbsp;

Knitting involves a collection of links that colluminate to create a fabric plane.

Slip Stitch Bricks interrogates the ways in which the qualities of the knitting process

might translate to the tectonics of a ceramic assembly. It is driven by

a desire to produce effects of variable porosity, transparency, and lightness

while understanding the limitations of fired clay with regards to flexibility

and tensile strength.

The ‘bricks’ produced thus far have allowed us to experiment with combinations

that display multiple densities and appearances while maintaining

a certain material economy by using a built in hole or void as a major

Punctual Aftermath features three dimensional anaglyph prints and performance exploring structural amnesia, merging out of print and out of date material with the contemporary vernacular. Deriving from subjects as diverse as Geoffrey Sonnabends model of obsolescence, remodeled information obesity info graphs, and Paul Connerton’s preliminary taxonomy of forgetting. Punctual Aftermath explores forgetting as the defeatist mechanism that is the structurally mandated element in all aspects of history, time and daily life.

Transplant is a series created in collaboration with former Los Angeles based Concord. Concord's project, P.S. 1010 is a mobile laboratory for researching art, social spaces and education. Feehan created temporary planters for seeds and plants. Specimens were selected that are native to both California and Los Angeles. Specimens are potted in paper pots with quotes from different writers or researchers from Concord's mobile archive. The work functions as an example of how we use information as either disposable or worth cultivating. The survival of the plants required the direct involvment of the art community to support the idea as well as the plant specimen.

Louisiana Love Cape is a collaboration between Siobhan Feehan and Gianina Jimenez Barrantes. The text written on Simon Bolivar's cape is taken from a letter Bolivar wrote to his lover Manuela Sáenz in 1826. The letter is translated as if Bolivar had written it to Louisiana. The Bolivar statue was constructed in the 1950's on&#38;nbsp;Canal Street and Basin Street.&#38;nbsp;Neutral grounds are often used for platforms where the surrounding territory can commemorate cherished figureheads.&#38;nbsp;The&#38;nbsp;intimacy of the letter to the state implies that the city-wide beautification project that inspired the construction of the statue means more then an urban renewal plan. Louisiana Love Cape considers the possibility that these figures in history could have loved us back.
